Description and Race Plans
This gelding is a striking black individual who joined the yard of Joss Saville in Middleham in October 2009.  He is good size and has been racing very creditably on both the turf and the All-Weather.

He will be a dual purpose horse and we expect him to be racing at the end of 2009 and throughout 2010.  He was purchased at the Tattersalls 'In-Training' sales at Newmarket at the end of October and we expect he will continue to be competitive in middle distance handicaps on the turf and very hopeful he will be decent when sent over two and a half mile over hurdles.

He has been sent to Joss Saville, based in Middleham, and has already been ridden and started his National Hunt schooling.  Joss describes him as "Very good looking and an extremely athletic horse.  He has been kept lean by regular runs on the flat this season, but we will soon get him bulked out and looking more like a dual purpose horse.  He will need the robustness to be a hurdler, but he's already shown he's got plenty of grit."

He added "He has solid National Hunt breeding, and I can't wait to send him over hurdles this winter. He seems to act on all types of surfaces, and the way his knee action is, I don't think extremes of ground will effect him too much.  His brother is a very decent sort, contesting some of the best Irish hurdles in the last couple of years, so if we have a horse only half as good, he's going to win races."

We believe he will be a force over hurdles, as he's only a five-year-old and has never been tried over the sticks.  He has one full brother in training with Willie Mullins in Ireland, a seven-year-old called Mister Hight who is a 140 rated hurdler and has won over £60,000 in prizemoney over jumps to date.  Even if Amical Risks can show some of the ability of his brother when switched to jumping, he could be huge value.

Amical Risks finished the 2009 flat season with a third placing at Catterick, when trained by Willie Musson.  He hasn't had a busy 2009 with only three runs, but was placed twice, and we are looking forward to building on that last run over the winter with runs on both the All-Weather and over hurdles.

He will race predominantly in the North at the national hunt tracks, but will also go to both Wolverhampton, and assuming he likes the fibresand surface, Southwell on the All-Weather. He has already WON for his shareholders, and been second - both at Wolverhampton.

This is an opportunity to have plenty of racing and fun from a proven handicapper, who has the profile and breeding to potentially be a very useful hurdler.  If he proves to be decent enough to be rated over 100 over sticks, there is a good chance we will concentrate on a jumping campaign with him.  He acts on both firm and soft going, so we would expect he will stay in training for at least part of the summer jumps season in 2010.

This gelding is currently being schooled for hurdles, but is actively racing regularly on the flat and is available to view at Joss Saville's yard at Coverham, near Middleham in North Yorkshire by appointment.
How to book a share or find out more

We find that most shareholders will wish to speak to us regarding the racehorse before they join the syndicate.  We would urge potential shareholders to call us and and speak to one of our syndicate managers.  You will learn more about the horse and understand exactly what to expect from your ownership.

Its important you know exactly who you are dealing with, what we will deliver, and what the expectations are for the horse, rather than you be disappointed at any stage.  The key to a successful syndicate is a good horse and great communication with the shareholders, and we strive to provide both.

Either call 0845 8381532 for an informal chat, or contact us via email.  If you want to proceed we will send you a Syndicate Agreement which lays out your full entitlements in detail.  You simply need to sign the agreement, pay the up-front share cost and organise the monthly training payments to become part of the syndicate.
